Auxiliary verbs and the past participle

[Past participles](#/lesson/Verbs.Re12) are used in the [perfect tense](#/lesson/Verbs.Re13) and the [passive voice](#/lesson/Verbs.Ot05).

There are three verbs that can be connected with a past participle: _hebben_ and _zijn_ for the perfect tense and _zijn_ and _worden_ for the passive voice.

hebben | to have | Loes heeft het boek gelezen | Loes has read the book

zijn | to be | Mieke is op tijd gekomen | Mieke has come on time

worden | to become | Martijn wordt verwend | Martijn is (being) spoiled
