Just like in English, we can form questions in two ways:
1. Closed questions
This is an enquiry about the presence/occurrence of an event or act and can only be answered by "yes" or "no": Did you do the dishes? Has he graduated? Can we come in? This type of question always starts with a verb (in English, usually 'to do')
2. Open questions
An open question starts with an interrogative pronoun: who, what, where, how, etc. These questions cannot be answered with a simple "yes" or "no" but require at least a simple phrase. The possible answers are infinite, hence the term 'open' question.
