Separable verbs: Past participle

A2Verbs · lesson 25 of 79

For the formation of the [past participle](#/lesson/Verbs.Re12), we conjugate the verb separately from its prefix. Then, we attach the prefix to the beginning of the past participle.

_Afwerken_ (to finish, to give the finishing touch)

ge+stam+t = ge+werk+t = gewerkt

prefix + past participle = af+gewerkt = _afgewerkt_

Another example:

_Goedkeuren_ (to approve)

The list of separable compound verbs is very extensive. You can have a look at the most common separable verbs in [List of separable verbs](#/lesson/Verbs.Co07).
